Basic Emblems and Awards for Cubbies Clubbers:
Note: Unless otherwise indicated, we will describe all emblem and award placement as if you are wearing the vest or shirt (i.e., left sleeve = left sleeve as if you are wearing the vest).
- Hopper and Jumper Trail patches
Cubbies receive the Hopper Trail patch for completing the Hopper Trail or the Jumper Trail patch for completing the Jumper Trail. Trails are at the beginning of each handbook. Sew these patches on the upper left side of the Cubbie’s uniform vest below the Cubbies emblem, one below the other in the order in which they finish the handbooks. All Cubbies should be in the same handbook on a given year. (Because the handbooks are used on alternate years, some Cubbies will have the Hopper patch on top, and others will have the Jumper patch on top. This is expected.)
- Achievement emblems
Cubbies earn these emblems by completing the 4 Lamb Paths and the 4 Elephant Walks in a particular handbook. (That’s a total of 16 achievement emblems for the two handbooks.) One emblem is awarded upon completion of each individual Path or Walk.
*Please note: Attach achievement emblems as indicated by the silk screened figures on the right side of the Cubbie’s vest, beginning with the “C” the 1st year, and continuing on the “A” the 2nd year. (The “C” should be completed before the “A”.)
- Year 1 Book Award
Cubbies receive a mini stuffed Cubbie Bear for completing one Celebrations Handbook. Attach this award by Velcro® to the silk screened little “Cubbie” figure on upper right of the Cubbie’s vest.
- Year 2 Book Award
Cubbies receive a blue rosette and ribbon for completing both Celebration Handbooks. The Year 1 Book Award—the mini Cubbie Bear—fits onto the rosette.
Other Cubbies Emblems:
- Church registration numbers (not an award)
Center these numbers on the lower left side of the Cubbie’s vest. They should be about 1 inch from the bottom of the vest, and numbers should be touching.
- Lion emblems
Cubbies can earn these emblems for club attendance. Each club sets their own standards for attendance. (Leaders, be flexible here.) If your club chooses to use them, give them twice a year at the end of two equal attendance periods (so a total of 4 lions over two years). Sew them on the lower left side of the Cubbie’s vest. (They should be above the church registration numbers, if you use these. Otherwise, place them about three inches from the bottom of the vest. Be sure they are low enough to leave room for the second Trail patch.) These lions should be in between the zebra and giraffe emblems and the Cubbie Bear emblems, if these are earned, so leave room. Place second-year emblems above first-year emblems. (Over two years, all attendance awards and Cubbie Bear emblems together form two complete rows, from left to right as you face the vest: giraffes and zebras, lions and then Cubbie Bears.)
- Zebra and Giraffe emblems
Cubbies can earn these emblems for Sunday school or church attendance. Each club sets their own standards for attendance. If your club chooses to use these emblems, give them twice each year at the ends of two equal attendance periods (so a total of 2 zebras and 2 giraffes over two years). Zebras are for the Cubbies’ first year of club; giraffes, for their second year. Sew these emblems on the lower left side of the Cubbie’s vest. (They should be above the church registration numbers, if you use these. Otherwise, place them about three inches from the bottom of the vest. Be sure they are low enough to leave room for the second Trail patch.) As emblems are earned, line them up side by side to start rows from left to right as you face the vest, giraffes above zebras.
- Cubbie Bear emblems
Cubbies can earn these emblems for completing the Cubbies Character Builders in the supplemental books. There are 2 of these emblems; one for each year. Sew these emblems on the lower left side of the Cubbie’s vest, toward the right as you face the vest, the second year emblem above the first. They form the ends of the rows of attendance awards (Place them above the church registration numbers, if you use these. Otherwise, place them about three inches from the bottom of the vest. Be sure they are low enough to leave room for the second Trail patch.)
Instructions on how to attach the award emblems to Awana club uniforms.
For Cubbies Leadership:
Pin placement—There are several options for displaying pins:
- On the shirt or blouse collar
- On the leader award lanyard
Note: The placement option you use depends on the uniform your club leadership has chosen.
- Director recognition emblem (not an award)
This emblem identifies the Director. Wear it immediately below the word “Cubbies” on the casual uniform. (You may wear it either below or above the certification emblem.)
- Certification emblem
Directors earn this emblem by passing the Director Certification exam with a score of 95% or higher. (However, you do not need to be certified to be a Cubbies Director.)
1. On the casual uniform, wear this emblem directly below the word “Cubbies.”
2. On the gray uniform, this emblem replaces the Awana emblem.
For Directors and leaders:
- Leader Training Award
Leaders earn this award by completing the Cubbies Leader Review test (Basic Training Test).
- Wear pin on lanyard or shirt collar
- Leader Memory Award pin
Leaders can earn this pin by memorizing all the Scripture passages included in the Bear Hugs of the Hopper and Jumper Celebrations Handbooks. (See “pin placement” above for placement.)
Note: Cubbies leaders can also earn many other pins and awards. See General Leader Awards for options.
